This section lists all courses available for staff.

Without highly skilled and dedicated staff the ATC would simply not be able to operate. As part of ongoing commitment to developing our people we have developed several training courses to provide adult staff with the skills they need

 

Staff Training & Development Course - 1 day

Who should attend
All new staff and those who have not attended one in the past 5 years.

Course content
Duty of Care, Equal Opportunities, Rules for the Mess, Structure of the Corps, Introduction to training, and Media communications

Instructional Techniques Course - 1 day

Who should attend
This course is for all staff and senior/instructor cadets who teach the academic syllabus.  Anyone who has completed the Weapons Instructor course will already have been taught to follow the correct principles of instructional techniques and need not do this course.  It wll be changed to a 2 day course in September 08.

Course Content
Qualities of an Instructor, the learning process, class participation, training aids, teaching by objectives, plannining & preparation, classroom delivery, preparing a lesson, and delivering a lesson.

Pre-Commissioning Course - 1 evening

Designed to prepare staff who wish to be commissioned.  Content includes Civilian Committee, Qualities of an Officer, Leadership theory, Motivation, Morale, Credibility, the RAF, Ethos of the Corps, Care of Youth and Selection Board guidance.  The course will be run when sufficient people have applied to make it viable.  It is run at a squadron and lasts for just one evening.  Book your place through this web site.

Adult NCO Induction Course - 1 day

Who should attend
All staff who have passed a Wing Adult NCO board.  Those who have been appointed in the past year are also eligible.

Course content
Duty of Care, Equal Opportunities, Discipline, Mess rules, Role of an Adult NCO, Conditions of Service, Communication, Dress standards for Adult NCO, Pay & Allowances, Available courses.

Staff Training Weekend    (6 & 7 September 2008)

Held on the first weekend in September each year for all staff to attend. The content is different every year but will contain training that is a recurring mandatory requirement, and anything that is topical at the time. Recent policy issues are also discussed, and lessons learnt from problems which have arisen over the past year. No other Wing activity is permitted on this weekend. The Wing annual dinner is held on the Saturday evening.  Booking forms are sent to each Squadron once the venue and costs have been determined.

Adventure Training Instructor Courses

The complete list of national adventure training courses  is available here together with the application forms.  Complete application form and health form and send to Wing HQ.  BELA courses are run within the Wing - contact the WATTO, Flt Lt Andy Organ.

Risk Management courses

Risk management is everywhere these days to control activities both on and off squadrons.  Every squadron should have at least one person qualified to carry out risk management.  The course is run on demand and is just over half a day long. It can be delivered anywhere where we can gather 10 to 20 people in one place, and the participants are given a certificate of competence upon successfully completing the course.
